Solaray Liposomal Vitamin C provides 500 mg vitamin C per capsule, plus a separately listed 241 mg lipid blend. It is a formula to examine for a one-capsule vitamin C serving and a sunflower-derived carrier—not a product we can declare clinically superior to regular vitamin C. The carrier amount does not raise the vitamin C amount to 741 mg. [1]

Supplement Explained Score

15/25

Solaray Liposomal Vitamin C 500 mg · Liposomal Vitamin C 500 mg · 100 capsules

Five equally weighted criteria, with a product-specific reason for every point. This is a buying-decision assessment, separate from customer stars and personal medical suitability.

Label clarity 5/5
Reviewed Liposomal Vitamin C 500 mg · 100 capsules: 1 capsule; 100 label servings. C 500 mg; liposomal carrier blend 241 mg.
Evidence transfer 3/5
Vitamin C can address inadequate intake; liposomal delivery does not establish better clinical outcomes for this exact 500 mg capsule.
Safety fit 3/5
Consider GI effects, kidney-stone history and iron-overload conditions; include vitamin C from other products.
Quality proof 2/5
A carrier-blend label describes formulation, not an independent liposome characterization or finished-product purity result.
Value fit 2/5
The delivery premium has no verified finished-product outcome advantage over ordinary vitamin C.

Sources behind this score

Product labels and independent directory records identify a formula or testing scope. Clinical references concern ingredients or studied regimens unless the explanation explicitly matches the finished formula.

This review covers the 100-capsule product. It is based on the manufacturer’s label and available research, not our own absorption test or a controlled comparison of infections or other health outcomes.

The exact label quantities

Item Per capsule
Vitamin C 500 mg
Vitamin C Daily Value 556%
Liposomal blend 241 mg
Carrier components Phosphatidylcholine from sunflower, palmitic acid, oleic acid
Bottle count 100 capsules
Full label servings 100

The lipid blend is a separate formula component, not additional vitamin C. Its number should not be used in a vitamin C cost denominator or added to the nutrient amount in a product comparison. [1]

There is a small but important ingredient-list inconsistency

The label image includes magnesium stearate and silica among the other ingredients, along with the capsule and cellulose. The shortened ingredient description on the manufacturer webpage does not reproduce every item in the image. [2] [1]

For a shopper who specifically avoids an excipient, that discrepancy matters more than an adjective such as “clean.” Check the current bottle’s full panel and ask the manufacturer when the page and image differ. We do not describe the product as free of an ingredient that appears on the reviewed label.

The panel identifies sunflower as the phosphatidylcholine source. That supports the source statement but is not the same as independent confirmation of every possible allergen or cross-contact concern.

What liposomal evidence can tell you

An absorption study can assess whether a defined formulation produces different vitamin C measurements from a comparator. It cannot automatically establish that this finished Solaray product prevents more infections, produces better long-term outcomes, or is interchangeable with every other liposomal product.

The 2024 trial examined elsewhere in our liposomal-versus-regular vitamin C comparison used a named LipoVantage formulation, not this retail capsule. Its short-term absorption finding should not be reassigned to Solaray simply because both products use the term liposomal. [3]

We did not establish a direct clinical-outcome trial of the exact Solaray formula. That is an evidence limit, not proof that the capsule provides no vitamin C. The appropriate conclusion is narrower: the label establishes its nutrient amount and composition; superiority claims need additional matched evidence.

Price per capsule and per vitamin C amount

The displayed one-time manufacturer price on September 27, 2026 was $29.59 for 100 capsules. That gives:

$29.59 ÷ 100 = $0.2959 per 500 mg label serving.

A normalized 100 mg vitamin C cost would be approximately $0.0592. Both figures exclude tax and shipping and do not use a subscription or coupon price. [2]

The normalization is for comparing quantity purchased. It is not an instruction to divide a capsule into fifths or a declaration that 100 mg is a clinically effective amount for every purpose.

Before paying a premium over a different vitamin C product, compare the actual vitamin C amount, bottle count, other ingredients, and evidence matched to that formulation. We have not established a current matched standard-vitamin-C price here and therefore do not publish a made-up saving or premium percentage.

Who may find the formulation relevant?

It may be worth examining when the one-capsule 500 mg amount fits an appropriate plan and you specifically prefer its carrier source and capsule format. Someone who simply needs vitamin C should not assume a liposomal product is necessary because it sounds more technologically advanced.

Another product may be more appropriate when a different amount, ingredient list, or price is the deciding factor. A vitamin C source already present in a multivitamin or the diet should also be counted before adding another product.

Safety does not depend on the marketing category

The US adult upper limit for vitamin C is 2,000 mg daily from food, drinks, and supplements. High intake can cause gastrointestinal effects. People with hemochromatosis or those undergoing some cancer treatments should discuss supplementation with their healthcare team. [4]

The upper limit is not a recommended target. Being below it does not establish that an amount is needed or that it cannot cause side effects. A liposomal carrier does not remove the need to consider the full supplement and medication list.

Questions worth resolving before ordering

Is there 500 mg or 741 mg vitamin C?

There is 500 mg vitamin C. The additional 241 mg is the separately declared carrier blend. [1]

Does the label prove it is better for immunity?

No. Ingredient quantities and a carrier description are not a trial measuring infections or immune-related clinical outcomes for the finished product.

Is the formula free of magnesium stearate and silica?

Not according to the reviewed label image. A shorter webpage ingredient summary should not override that image without manufacturer clarification. [1]

The strongest purchasing case is a verified fit between this exact formula, an appropriate vitamin C amount, and your preferences. The weakest is paying more for a clinical benefit that has not been demonstrated for the product.
