Solaray Super Digestaway combines digestive enzymes with porcine bile, betaine HCl and botanicals. It is not vegan, despite its vegetable capsule shell. The reviewed 60-capsule label also does not establish that it contains probiotics. Solaray’s webpage lists lactose while its label image omits it, so do not rely on this product being lactose-free. Supplement Explained Score

12/25

Solaray Super Digestaway · Super DigestAway · 60 capsules

Five equally weighted criteria, with a product-specific reason for every point. This is a buying-decision assessment, separate from customer stars and personal medical suitability.

Label clarity 4/5
Reviewed Super DigestAway · 60 capsules: 1 capsule; 60 label servings. Pancreatin 175 mg; porcine bile 100 mg; papain 50 mg; pepsin 40 mg. Companion-blend quantities, current variant or full-panel details remain less complete than the core active amount.
Evidence transfer 2/5
Pancreatin, bile and other enzyme ingredients do not establish that the complete OTC formula treats unexplained digestive symptoms.
Safety fit 2/5
Porcine enzymes/bile and pepsin require ingredient and GI-condition review; persistent pain or digestive symptoms need evaluation.
Quality proof 2/5
An exact-product independent report was not verified; ingredient milligrams alone do not establish enzyme activity.
Value fit 2/5
The mixed animal-derived formula is harder to compare than a targeted enzyme with a relevant indication and activity units.

Sources behind this score

Product labels and independent directory records identify a formula or testing scope. Clinical references concern ingredients or studied regimens unless the explanation explicitly matches the finished formula.

Who should look elsewhere?

Skip this formula if you require a vegan or pork-free product. If avoiding lactose is important, choose an option with a clearly confirmed formula rather than assuming the ingredient is absent. Someone seeking a probiotic or a specific lactase product should not treat this mixed formula as an equivalent.

It may be worth discussing only when there is a clear reason to consider these particular ingredients together. A long ingredient list is not evidence that the capsule addresses the cause of bloating. For the broader choice, read digestive enzymes versus probiotics.

What does the 60-capsule label contain?

One capsule is the labeled serving. The amounts below come from Solaray’s displayed panel, not an independent laboratory test. [1]

Pancreatin 4X175 mg
Porcine bile powder100 mg
Papain, from papaya50 mg

The pancreatin footnote lists protease and amylase activity at 17,500 units each, plus 1,400 units lipase activity. Other ingredients on this image are cellulose capsule, cellulose, maltodextrin from non-GMO corn, magnesium stearate and silica. [1]

Why enzyme activity matters more than total blend weight

Milligrams describe weight, while enzyme activity describes performance under a defined test. Different enzyme units are not interchangeable. The pancreatin activity, bromelain GDU descriptor and pepsin strength expression cannot be added into a meaningful overall score.

There is another practical complication: bile, betaine HCl and botanicals are not all enzymes. Comparing this capsule’s total ingredient weight with a simpler enzyme product could make the more complicated formula look stronger without showing whether it better fits your need. Our digestive enzyme guide explains the individual enzyme categories.

Does it contain lactose or probiotics?

Lactose-free status is not confirmed. On September 27, 2026, the manufacturer’s webpage ingredient list included lactose, but the displayed 60-count Supplement Facts image did not. We cannot tell from those conflicting sources which formulation will arrive. Ask Solaray to confirm the current ingredients for the bottle and lot if this affects your choice. Lactose intolerance and milk allergy are different issues; neither should be resolved by a guess about an online photo. [1] [2]

The webpage also describes enzymes and probiotics, yet the standard panel does not identify probiotic strains or CFU. We therefore do not present this bottle as a probiotic. A similarly named or reformulated product needs its own label check. Lactose, the sugar, should not be confused with lactase, the enzyme. [2]

Can it help bloating, reflux or an enzyme deficiency?

A digestive enzyme supplement is not a diagnosis. Johns Hopkins distinguishes targeted uses, such as lactase for lactose digestion, from prescription pancreatic enzyme replacement and general over-the-counter blends. A prescribed pancreatic enzyme treatment should not be replaced with this supplement. [3]

We did not identify a direct clinical trial establishing that this exact formula treats general bloating or reflux. Betaine HCl on a label is also not evidence that you have low stomach acid. If the cause of symptoms is unclear, choosing more ingredients can add complexity rather than solve the underlying question.

If you already know the food or condition involved, discuss whether a targeted approach is more appropriate than this multi-ingredient mixture. For potential tolerability issues, see digestive enzyme side effects.

Directions and safety checks

The reviewed label says to take one capsule at the beginning of a meal and warns against use during pregnancy. These are manufacturer directions, not a personalized recommendation to use it at every meal. Follow the actual bottle and have the full ingredient list checked if you take medicines, have a medical condition or are breastfeeding. [1]

Do not keep trying supplements instead of seeking care for black or bloody stools, severe abdominal pain, dehydration or persistent diarrhea. NIDDK identifies such features as reasons for medical assessment. [4]

For pork restrictions, the porcine bile entry already answers the question. For lactose avoidance or other ingredient sensitivities, the unresolved manufacturer information is a reason to wait or choose a clearly labeled alternative, not to try the product and see what happens.

What does the reviewed bottle cost?

Solaray’s 60-capsule option was $13.99 on September 27, 2026, approximately $0.23 per labeled one-capsule serving. The 90- and 180-count options were $20.89 and $35.29. These are one-time manufacturer prices, excluding shipping, taxes, coupons and subscriptions. Select the intended size before checkout. [2]

Cost per capsule is not cost per successfully treated symptom. A larger bottle is not better value if the ingredients do not fit your dietary requirements or reason for use. Confirm the ingredient questions above before ordering.

Common questions

Is Super Digestaway vegan?

No. The reviewed standard formula contains porcine bile. A vegetable capsule shell does not make the entire supplement vegan.

Can I count it as my probiotic?

No probiotic strain or CFU amount is identified on the reviewed standard label. Do not assume the webpage’s broader marketing description establishes a probiotic formula.

Is it lactose-free?

That has not been confirmed. The manufacturer’s text lists lactose, while its displayed label image does not. Obtain confirmation for the current bottle if lactose avoidance matters.

Is it a replacement for prescription pancreatic enzymes?

No. An over-the-counter blend is not an interchangeable substitute for prescribed pancreatic enzyme replacement. Discuss any change with the clinician managing that treatment.
